The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed forwards Nick Schilkey and Zach Nastasiuk to AHL contracts for the 2020-21 season, the team announced on Monday.
Schilkey and Nastasiuk were both members of the 2019 Calder Cup champion Charlotte Checkers under current Wilkes-Barre head coach Mike Vellucci.
Schilkey, 26, is a 5-foot-10, 174-pound right wing. He spent last season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL, where he scored nine goals and 13 assists in 49 games. In his three professional seasons, he's scored 29 goals and 42 assists in 161 AHL games and has appeared in two ECHL games. Prior to turning pro, Schilkey spent four years at Ohio State, serving as captain in his final two NCAA seasons.
Nastasiuk, 25, is 6-foot-1, 200-pounds and can play both center and wing. He played for the San Antonio Rampage last season in the AHL, where he scored four goals and seven assists in 53 games. Originally a second-round pick of the Red Wings in 2013, Nastasiuk has played in five full professional seasons. He's scored 13 goals and 23 assists in 160 AHL games and 40 goals and 48 assists in 130 ECHL games. Prior to turning pro, Nastasiuk played for the OHL's Owen Sound Attack for four years, serving as captain in his final two.
