It goes without saying, but this summer is going to look a little different in the NHL.
Here's a look at all of the key dates and events for the remainder of the 2019-20 NHL season and offseason.
Asterisks indicate tentative dates.
July 13: Training camps open for NHL teams, to be held in their home cities. Players have until this day to opt out of the remainder of the season.
July 14: Ted Lindsay Award finalists announced.
July 15: Calder Memorial Trophy and Jack Adams Award finalists announced.
July 16: Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy and Lady Byng Memorial Trophy finalists announced.
July 17: Vezina Trophy and Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award finalists announced.
July 20: Frank J. Selke Trophy and James Norris Memorial Trophy finalists announced.
July 21: Hart Memorial Trophy finalists announced.
July 26: Teams will travel to their hub cities -- Toronto for the Eastern Conference, and Edmonton for the Western Conference -- and go into their bubbles.
July 28-30: Each team will play one exhibition game. The schedule and opponents for each team have yet to be announced.
Aug. 1: The qualifying round opens. The Penguins will play Game 1 against the Canadiens.
Aug. 2: Penguins' Game 2 vs. Canadiens.
Aug. 5: Penguins' Game 3 vs. Canadiens.
Aug. 7: Penguins' Game 4 vs. Canadiens (if necessary), also Sidney Crosby's birthday.
Aug. 8: Penguins' Game 5 vs. Canadiens (if necessary).
Aug. 9: Last possible day of qualifying round for all teams.
Aug. 10*: The second phase of the NHL Draft Lottery will take place with the eight teams eliminated from the qualifying round, giving each eliminated team a 12.5 percent chance at the No. 1 overall pick.
Aug. 11: First round of the playoffs begins.
Aug. 25*: Second round of the playoffs begins.
Sept. 8*: Conference Finals begin.
Sept. 22*: Stanley Cup Final begins.
Sept. 25 (or the start of the Cup Final, whichever is later)*: First buyout period begins.
Oct. 4*: Last possible day of playoffs.
Oct. 8 (or six days after the Cup Final ends, whichever is later)*: First buyout period ends.
Oct. 9 (or seven days after the Cup Final ends, whichever is later)*: Free agency opens.
Oct. 9-10*: NHL Draft.
Nov. 17*: Training camps open for the 2020-21 season.
Dec. 1*: Start date for the 2020-21 season.
