The Canadiens opened their training camp at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, Quebec on Monday morning.
Here were the lines used at practice:
Tomas Tatar -- Phillip Danault -- Brendan Gallagher
Jonathan Drouin -- Nick Suzuki -- Joel Armia
Artturi Lehkonen -- Kotkaniemi -- Paul Byron
Jordan Weal -- Jake Evans -- Dale Weise
Charles Hudon, Ryan Poehling, Laurent Dauphin, and Alex Belzile were the extra forwards.
And the pairings:
Ben Chiarot -- Shea Weber
Victor Mete -- Jeff Petry
Christian Folin -- Noah Juulsen
Gustav Olofsson -- Cale Fleury
All of the Canadiens' goaltenders -- Carey Price, Michael McNiven, Charlie Lindren, and Cayden Primeau -- practiced.
Max Domi was not at practice as expected, as he has 7-10 days to decide whether to report to camp.
“We want to do this the right way with Max," general manager Marc Bergevin told Canadiens reporters on Monday. "We’re confident he’ll be here, but it’ll be a decision made by the experts and Max together, and we’ll choose what’s best for him.”
Prospect Alexander Romanov signed his entry-level deal with the Canadiens after the signing period opened at noon. Romanov will not be permitted to play in games this summer for the Canadiens, but he will be able to practice with the team. Romanov didn't practice on Day 1 as expected, as he still has to quarantine after traveling from Russia.
Three players -- Josh Brook, Brett Kulak, and Xavier Ouellet -- were absent from practice on Monday. It was reported Sunday by Montreal writer Arpon Basu that at least three Canadiens players tested positive for coronavirus. Basu reported Monday that two of the tests turned out to be false positives.
The Canadiens, per NHL policy, were not permitted to comment on the absences of the three players.
