Tristan Jarry was named the NHL's Second Star of the Month for December, the NHL announced on Thursday afternoon.
Jarry appeared in nine games in December, posting an 8-1 record (including three shutouts), a 1.54 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.
During the month, Jarry set the Penguins' new franchise shutout streak record by a goaltender, going 177:15 without allowing a goal. He became the second Penguins goaltender in franchise history to record three shutouts in four appearances — Marc-Andre Fleury did so in 2014.
Jarry's December brings his season totals to a 1.88 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage, the league-leader in each category among all goaltenders who have played at least 13 games. His three shutouts ties him for the league lead.
The NHL's No. 1 star for December was Jonathan Huberdeau, who scored six goals and 16 assists in 16 games for the Panthers. Artemi Panarin, who scored 10 goals and 12 assists in 14 games for the Rangers, was named the No. 3 star.
