Kasparaitis gives Game 7 stick, puck to Ovechkin

Darius Kasparaitis gave a pretty big piece of Penguins history to Alex Ovechkin on Tuesday.

Kasparaitis gave Ovechkin his stick and puck from his 2001 Game 7 overtime goal for the Penguins against the Sabres.

"It’s a honor and I hope he will catch the great one," Kasparaitis said about the gesture on Instagram.

"All hockey fans remember the goal that Kaspairaitis scored in Game 7 against the Sabres," Ovechkin wrote. "This stick is now in my collection, and afterwards it will be in my museum! Thank you very much for such a gift!"

Kaspairaitis' goal was the first Game 7 overtime goal in Penguins franchise history and sent the Penguins to the Eastern Conference final for the first time since 1996. They went on to lose to the Devils in five games.
